Ruzizi III Energy Limited (REL) recently hosted a field visit for Project Lenders and key stakeholders as part of its continued efforts to advance the implementation of the 206 MW Ruzizi III Regional Hydropower Project.

The visit provided an important platform for engagement, allowing REL and its partners to review the current status of the Project and align on the next steps toward achieving financial close. Through open discussions and on-site observations, participants gained a deeper understanding of the project footprint, including the topographical layout and the various locations that will host key infrastructure components.

Such engagements play a critical role in strengthening collaboration among stakeholders, fostering transparency, and ensuring a shared vision for the successful delivery of the Project. The active involvement of Project Lenders and stakeholders reflects a strong and continued commitment to advancing a project that will provide clean, reliable, and sustainable energy to the populations of the CEPGL countries—Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Rwanda.

The Ruzizi III Project remains a flagship initiative of regional cooperation, demonstrating how joint infrastructure development can drive energy security, economic growth, and long-term socio-economic development across the Great Lakes region.

As preparations continue, REL remains committed to working closely with all partners to ensure the successful realization of this transformative regional energy project.

Ruzizi III Energy Limited (REL) is a special purpose vehicle that has been established and registered in Rwanda to develop the Ruzizi III Regional Hydroelectric project (Project). It is a key development project and will be one of the largest infrastructure projects in the region comprising Rwanda, Burundi, and eastern DR Congo. It is the first privately financed project in sub-Saharan Africa that will utilise a common regional water resource to generate power that will be shared equally between three countries.
