The Location
The proposed 206 MW Ruzizi III is planned as a run-of-the-river hydropower project located on the Ruzizi River, which forms the border between DRC and Rwanda in the region. The Ruzizi River flows from Lake Kivu to Lake Tanganyika. The Project will be part of the Ruzizi Cascade, already equipped by the Ruzizi I and Ruzizi II projects, and will be located approximately 13 km downstream of the Ruzizi II dam. Flow available to the Ruzizi Cascade is regulated by Lake Kivu.
